Example of Meeting - Knowing God

Start with news sharing time

Opening Game

Split into teams, have a pillow cases for each team containing the same items (around 15-20 items), e.g. pencil, rubber, flannel, comb, etc. The pillow cases are tied up so no one can get in to see the items. Have each member of the team take it in turn to guess what is in the pillow by feeling it and making a list.  See which team can guess the most correctly within a time limit.

Explain that they could not see the items, so they had to get to know what they were by some other way. Explain that God is like that, we cannot see Him, so we get to know him in other ways.

Discuss in groups (or all together), what ways we can get to know God.
One way is by hearing the testimonies of others. Find testimonies for members of the group to read, or ask members of the group (who you have asked beforehand) to share their testimony.

We also get to know of God’s love because others were prompted by God to care for us. Remind the group that we are there to support each other.

Take a photograph of the group with a digital camera and print off copies of the photograph. Buy some very basic picture frames before the service, and then each person decorates a picture frame and puts the photograph in it. Each one takes this away as a reminder that they are to support each other.

Close in prayer
