Example of Meeting - Highway CodeStart with news sharing Do a short quiz on the highway code. Remind everyone that when they learn to drive, they have to learn the highway code. It is not full of laws, but is more about giving good advice on how to be a better driver. But often after passing our test, we never read it again and because we forget the good advice, we start to develop bad habits with our driving. Explain there is a similar book for guidance about living, and that is the Bible. This also gives good advice, but this is about how to become a better disciple of Jesus. But just like the highway code, if we stop reading it, we also can get into bad habits. We need to read it, discuss it, put its advice into practice. Discuss the importance of using the Bible. Do a short quiz on the Bible. Do we know more about the highway code than the Bible? Give everyone a sheet of road signs (you can copy a selection from www.highwaycode.gov.uk). Most people will know what they mean, but ask the group to think about what alternate meaning they could have if instead of being in the highway code, they were in the Bible. E.G. "Following Jesus means no turning back" See how many road signs the group can find a spiritual meaning. Discuss some of the answers, and what difference it would make in our lives if we followed these spiritual road signs. Close in prayer
