Financial

Written by

As these words find expression in the church, the following affirmations guide us:

  • Stewardship is a whole-life response to God’s grace and the ministry of Jesus Christ.
  • One way stewardship is expressed is through the spiritual practice of tithing.
  • Although tithing literally means a tenth, giving generously to one’s true capacity is the spirit of tithing.
  • Tithing of time, talent, treasure, and testimony supports local and worldwide church ministries in pursuit of Jesus Christ’s mission.
  • All disciples are called to live as faithful stewards who tithe.

These affirmations are part of World Conference Resolution 1314 Mission and Tithing, which was adopted by the World Conference June 11, 2016, using a common consent process

You can financially support the mission of the church through mission tithes, special projects and endowments  www.cofchrist.org/ways-to-fund-mission

Community of Christ endeavours to be totally open and transparent with its finances.  Annual accounts and budgets are considered at congregation and Mission Centre business meetings which are open to all.

Once fully developed it is planned that this page will include resources on stewardship, tithing and generosity

Pursue Peace on Earth

Written by

Community of Christ is called to be "in the forefront of those organizations and movements which are recognizing the worth of persons and are committed to bringing the ministry of [Jesus Christ] to bear on their lives" (Doctrine and Covenants 151:9)

  • We are called to restore Christ’s promise of peace through teaching and practicing nonviolent conflict resolution so we can help promote and pursue peace for all peoples and all nations across the globe.
  • We are called to care for God's earth and its resources.

Our International Peace Award has been given since 1993. The award includes a financial gift to be donated to the charitable peace, justice, or environmental organization(s) of the recipient's choice. and a sculpture created by Wyoming artist Gail Sundell. Each is made slightly different to honour the unique peace-making contribution of the recipient.

For further information and/or to find ways that we can work together to achieve this mission initiative or to chat to one of our ministers about anything that is on your mind, you will find a safe and sacred space to connect on 01246 768831 or by email on: This email address is being protected from spambots. Abolish Poverty, End Suffering

Written by

We are called to be the peaceful ones, the hands and feet of Jesus, to serve the poor and hungry, and stop conditions that diminish the worth of persons. Our vision is a world where every person has adequate food and resources for a life with dignity. You can help us achieve this as we strive to empower the vulnerable and bring wholeness to all persons through access to life-sustaining provisions and economic fairness

We support ministry to help end hunger throughout the British Isles and the world, we encourage education on root causes of poverty and hunger, and advocate on behalf of relevant industries and services that promote equality and healthy standards of living.

We have recently passed a Climate Emergency resolution that calls us to unite with others who are acknowledging the need for urgent action to reduce or halt climate change. The resolution goes beyond making a declaration; it calls for us to take action to reduce climate change, to support other groups who are peaceably taking action and to produce resources to help us, individually and as a groups to take steps to reduce climate change.

We have also been in discussion and finding ways to take action on the following topics, we need committed individuals to help us on this journey......

  • Predatory loan practices
  • Palestine & Israel
  • Supporting indigenous people
  • Wholeness & wellbeing
  • Nuclear weapons abolition
  • Human trafficking
  • Organ & tissue donation
  • Sexual abuse of children
  • Capital punishment
  • Personal use of firearms
  • International ban landmines
  • Nurture of children
  • Participation in military service
  • Children's advocacy
  • Earth stewardship
  • Racism

In Community of Christ, "We honour the worth of all persons and seek reconciliation, wellbeing and wholeness for individuals, communities, and the earth."
Today, Community of Christ welcomes all people, regardless of gender, sexuality, colour, race or creed.  Here we celebrate the worth of all people and embrace the rich diversity of life which creates communities of love, hope, joy and peace. A community that has ordained women to the priesthood for over 30 years, has full equality for LGBT members and friends and celebrates marriage here in the British Isles for those that love God and each other regardless of their sexuality.

We offer a community where you can belong, be valued and loved, deepen your spirituality, and discover a purpose that can change lives and communities. Throughout the British Isles are individuals, groups and our congregations responding to the mission of Jesus Christ.

When we invite people to Christ, we invite them to strive with us to abolish poverty, end needless suffering and pursue peace on earth, we do this by growing together and inviting people into the work and ministry of Jesus Christ.  And when all of this happens, we experience the blessings of communities involved in mission that not only makes a difference but continues to call us deeper into the people we are to become.
